Better with Leather

A marriage worth breaking in again.

In the high desert town of Ocotillo Bend, nights end at The Untapped Maiden, a bar where karaoke mixes with kink, pool leagues turn flirty, and one truth keeps the lights on: consent is the hottest house rule, and two husbands learn that “date night” can mean leather, laughter, and a slow, earned yes.

Book Three: Better with Leather

Cal and Mateo are not strangers, but lately they have been living like polite roommates who share a last name and avoid the hard conversations. So they make a plan: date nights, actual effort, and one rule, no running when it gets vulnerable.

Their first attempt is supposed to be harmless. A leather-making class. A little craft night. A little laughter. Instead, they find themselves surprised by how good it feels to work with their hands, to negotiate choices out loud, to hold tension and give it shape. One project turns into another. One curious question turns into a conversation they have been avoiding for years: what they want, what they miss, and what kind of pleasure still belongs to them.

As they step back toward each other, leather becomes more than a look. It becomes a language. One that asks for presence. One that makes room for visibility on their terms. One that helps them build trust again, strap by strap, until “us” feels real.
